We are so glad to connect with you! Our church has a rich heritage of 65 years in Somerset County. In 1959, it emanated from a man and woman called by God with a heart and burden for souls. The burden and desire of our pastor and church family is to continue the vision by laboring with a passion for God's Kingdom. Click below.** **Our creed, discipline, and doctrine is the Word of God as revealed by the Holy Ghost. We believe the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God. (John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 2:9-13; II Timothy 3:16-17) “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: But Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”. (II Peter 1:21)** **The basic and fundamental doctrine of this organization shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:38; 8:15-17; 10:44-48; 19:2-6).** **Forgiveness of sins is received by obeying and identifying with the gospel message according to Acts 2:38. The word “repentance” comes from several Greek words which mean, change of views and purpose, change of heart, change of mind, change of life, to transform, etc. Jesus said, “…Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3). A broken and contrite heart, He will not despise. (Psalm 51:17) John preached repentance, Jesus proclaimed it, and before His ascension commanded that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name, beginning at Jerusalem (Luke 24:47). Peter obeyed this command on the Day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:38).** **We believe that the scriptural mode of water baptism (immersion) is only for believers who have fully repented having turned from their sins and a love of the world, and must be administered by a duly authorized minister of the Gospel, in obedience to the Word of God, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ according to the Acts of the Apostles 2:38; 8:16; 10:47; 19:5, thus fulfilling Matthew 28:19.** **We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost for believers, obtained by obedience, (Acts 2:38-39; 5:31-32), by asking (Luke 11:13). It is evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (Acts 2:4). Also that it is the standard of the normal Christian experience since Pentecost. John the Baptist, in Matthew 3:11, said, “…he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.” Jesus said, “…ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” (Acts 1:5) Luke tells us in Acts 2:4, “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” It is scriptural to expect all who receive the gift, infilling, or baptism of the Holy Ghost to receive the same, physical, initial sign of speaking with other tongues. The speaking with other tongues, as recorded in Acts 2:4, 10:46, and 19:6, and the gift of tongues, as explained in I Corinthians chapters 12 and 14, are the same in essence, but different in use and purpose. The Lord, through the prophet Joel, said, “…I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh…” (Joel 2:28) Peter, in explaining this phenomenal experience, said, “…having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.” (Acts 2:33) Further, “…the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:39)** **God is one, who was manifest as the Father in Creation; as the Son in Redemption; and as the Holy Ghost in the believer individually and the Church collectively. Not three persons, but three simultaneous manifestations of One True God. We believe in the One Everlasting, Eternal God; Infinite in power, Holy in Nature, Attributes and Purpose; and possessing absolute, indivisible deity. As eternal Spirit, He is everywhere at once, and cannot be seen, except in the person and face of Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 1:3; John 14:4-9; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 9:6; Isaiah 44:6-8; John 1:1-14; I John 5:20; Matthew 28:18-19; I Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; II Corinthians 5:19; Joel 2:28) The scripture does more than attempt to prove the existence of God; it asserts, assumes and declares that the knowledge of God is universal. (Romans 1:19,21,28,32; Romans 2:15).** **God is invisible, incorporeal, without parts, without body, and therefore free from all limitations. He is Spirit, John 4:24, and “…a spirit hath not flesh and bones…” (Luke 24:39) “…The first of all commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord” (Mark 12:29, Deuteronomy 6:4). “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Ephesians 4:6) This one true God manifest Himself in the Old Testament in divers ways; in the Son while He walked among men; as the Holy Ghost after the Ascension. The one true God, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, took upon Himself the form of man, and as the son of man, was born of the virgin Mary. As Paul says, “And without controversy great is the mystery of Godliness; God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles believed on in the world, received up into Glory” (I Timothy 3:16; John 1:10). “He came unto His own, and His own received Him not” (John 1:11). This one true God was manifest in the flesh, that is, in His Son Jesus Christ ” … God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them: ” (II Corinthians 5:19). We believe that, ” in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; (Colossians 2:9)** **“… unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; … and His name shall be called Wonderful, counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). This prophecy of Isaiah was fulfilled when the Son of God was named, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: For He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)** **God created man in His own image (Genesis 1:26, 27), innocent, pure and holy. By transgression man lost his standing. (Romans 5:11; Ephesians 2:3). Man needed a redeemer which has been supplied in the seed of the woman, which seed bruised the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15; Luke 2:10,11); that is: Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in whom we have redemption, through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins. (Ephesians l:7; Revelation 1:5).** **“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and wordly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.” (Titus 2:11,12).** **“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).** **A Christian, to keep saved, must walk with God and keep himself in the love of God (Jude 21) and in the grace of God. The word “Grace” means “favor”. When a person transgresses or sins against God He loses His favor. If he continues to commit sin and does not repent, he will eventually be lost and cast into the lake of fire. (Read John 15:2; 6:2; II Peter 2:20-22). Jude speaks of the backsliders of his day and their reward (Also, read Hebrews 6:4-6).** **“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the Gift of God”. (Ephesians 2:8)** **There is one Body or Church; and but one way to enter it. Namely, by faith, as evidenced by true repentance; water baptism in Jesus name; and the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which constitutes the new birth. (Ephesians 4:4-6; Acts 2:38,39; John 3:1-11) We are primitive Christians who trace our scriptural history back to Pentecost, and not just another sect. But rather, a part of that great company of true believers, that hold the scriptural form of doctrine and practice.** **The work of the church is to evangelize or reach the entire world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This was expressed by Jesus himself; “Go ye therefore…” Matthew 28:19, “…ye shall be witnesses…” Acts 1:8. This necessary duty of evangelism requires the teaching and training of men and women and should be continued not only in regular church services, but in ancillary schools, both in the course of childhood education and in extended adult education. (Acts 5:42, I Timothy 4:11, Deuteronomy 6:7)** **We believe that godly living should characterize the life and walk of all saints according to the sign and example found in I Peter 2:21; Titus 2:11; Galatians 2:20; Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:15-17.** **We believe we are to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God (II Corinthians 7: 1), and to abstain from all appearance of evil. (I Thessalonians 5:22) and to turn away from those who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. Bradley Rev. Chad L. Bradley and his wife, Melissa Bradley, moved across the country to accept the call of God in Somerset, PA. On Sunday, October 25th, 2020, the Bradley's assumed the Pastorate of First Apostolic Church. The couple hail from Greater Bakersfield First Pentecostal Church (GBFPC), of Bakersfield California and have served under the anointed ministry and tutelage of Pastor Kevin Bradford and Bishop Leon Frost. Chad received his undergraduate degree in Business Management at the University of Phoenix in Bakersfield, CA. He has completed the certificate program in Leadership Essentials & Apostolic Principles at Wilson University and is pursuing his Masters in Theology. Both Pastor and Sister Bradley are catalysts for worship, prayer and the Word of God. Together, the couple exemplifies service through humility. God miraculously blessed this couple with the gift of a Son shortly after moving to Pennsylvania. He is a blessing to them and our church family. Our pastoral family has a burden for the community of Somerset County, a love for God, and a passion to see the His Kingdom expand as the scripture proclaims. The Bible comes to life with passionate and engaged teachers from the toddler class to the adult class. Our Kids & Student Ministry includes all kids, ranging from birth to 12th grade. We are a Jesus-focused, Spirit-filled, and life-giving ministry, whose focus is to bring to life the Gospel of Christ in the lives of kids. Our vision is to raise up and empower the next generation to advance God's kingdom, so that our students can take their next steps to a life of significance with Christ. We are centered around discipleship relationships to foster an environment for our students to thrive on their journey with Jesus. Our ministry approach is based on a caring community and small groups where Godly relationships can develop. This ministry provides opportunities where students may gather to encounter God through worship, teaching and other events. Youth gatherings, activities and services generally happen on Friday nights for youth ages 12-25. Connect with us to join our Chosen Youth Ministry! Every Wednesday our Midweek Bible Study begins at 7:30 pm. See our events page for scheduled gatherings outside of regular services. Giving your child an excellent education grounded in Christian principles is one of the best investments you can make. For over 30 years, families have chosen Apostolic Christian Academy to teach their children how to live, equip them for success and instill Godly character into their lives. The primary goal and responsibility is to train young men and women in spiritual ministry, instruction with right thinking, good conduct and clean living in light of Godly principles. Our church desires to invest in local ministries and partner with local organizations that help fill the gap for people in need in our community. The greatest need of all is Salvation. Our approach is to form long-term relationships, where we can invest in people by giving them tools and resources from the Word of God to become the child of God they are called to be. Our church is a part of the Worldwide Pentecostal Fellowship and supports designated missionaries around the globe. We frequently give toward efforts to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in every nation. It is a real joy for us to meet newcomers and to tell you about all the good things God is doing in our church family. For over ten years now it has been our mission to love God with everything. That means that no matter where you have come from and where you are on your spiritual journey, we want to come alongside to inspire, equip and encourage you to live out a life that will bring glory to God and be a blessing to the world.  Here's all you need to know before you show up for your first Sunday morning gathering: Come as you are. Although our time will be taken up by singing, teaching and praying, you don't need any manual to figure out how to fit in. Jesus simply says: "Come to me" and we say the same. Just come as you are! We are currently meeting at the Bend Community Center, twice on Sundays. There is plenty of seating, and made accessible to everyone, so if you have any special needs - don't worry! We have you covered. Most services last somewhere around an hour long, and are not age-distinct. Although some churches choose to have age-specific services, we choose not to in order to keep experiences the same for everyone. We have all ages attending our Sunday morning services, so no matter what your preferences are, you're welcome to attend! Knieriem, a young man with a vision saw the need and felt the call to bring Truth to Somerset. He was joined in arm with his dear wife, Doris Knieriem. Born and reared in the Pocahontas area of Somerset County, educated at the Bethany Seminary in Chicago, baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1954; this man and woman were equipped and ready to spread the Word of Truth.** **On May 20, 2014, Bishop Irvin James Knieriem, 83, went on to be with the Lord at his home.** **He presided as the Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic organization for 39 years and pastored the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic in Somerset for nearly 55 years. He dedicated his life to the work of the Lord and ministering to others’ needs. Bishop Knieriem’s testimony, heritage, and revelation of Jesus Christ lives on today through countless testimonies because this man of God was grounded and settled in the faith, not moved away from the hope of the gospel which was once delivered unto the saints.** **The Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic was born under a tent during an eight-week revival that was located on Plank Road. After preaching every night and working everyday, a harvest of souls began. Dale and Geraldine Smith were the first converts to be baptized in Jesus’ name by Bishop Knieriem.** **The Glencoe School Building (left) was the location of the first Apostolic church services after the tent revival. The small congregation of twenty saints rented a Church of God building in Shawleytown at the southern end of Somerset. The arrangements did not work out as planned, so a different location was sought. A Baptist Church building (right) was secured, rent-free, on the 700 block of South Center Ave. The Church grew and thrived to a congregation of about forty saints in a two-year period.** **Another tent revival was held in 1960 and with it came a new wave of saints that were full of faith and ambition. The decision was made to search for property to build a new Church building to house the growing congregation. Knieriem purchased two lots on which the Church would be built from a sister in the congregation. With a lot of faith, hard work and a little money – the building project began and through the miraculous Hand of God, a building was constructed at 141 Forward Blvd. for The Kingdom of God. In 1973 the Sunday School building was built next to the Church. The original purpose of the building was to provide a venue for fellowship. Due to growth in the Sunday School Department the building was converted in 1989 for use as Sunday School classrooms.** **The Apostolic Christian Academy was founded. Acting on the God given, mutually shared, burden of Biblically based education, Knieriem and a former elder started the development of the Christian school, which began with the 1995-1996 academic year.** **The First Family Pavilion was built on our acreage for future growth and development. The name honors the very first family as well as every family from First Apostolic Church. The facility has already been put to good use for outdoor services, fellowship, picnics, and other gatherings. By faith, a new sanctuary will be built on this property.
